Self-Guided tours of both Castles
Enjoy self-guided tours of Piatt Castles with new exhibits, hands-on activities and opportunities to interact with historical interpreters. In the late spring, a new outdoor exhibit on 1790s Shawnee villages will be available to enhance your visit. Outdoor games are available on the lawns Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting. For information on hours and admission prices, see our Visitor Information page.
November through December:
Holiday Tour: Traditions over Time
What are your holiday traditions? Make one of them a visit to Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek which has festive seasonal decorations, a collection of 600 antique Christmas ornaments and lights, and exhibits of historical toys and Christmas cards. All are featured in a unique holiday experience, Traditions Over Time. This program traces the origins and evolution of decorating trees at Christmas, caroling, gift giving, holiday games, and family gatherings. Visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy a game from the past, make a holiday card, share a favorite memory, and leave a letter in Santaís mail box at Mac-A-Cheek Castle.

13 & 14Outdoor Festival: The Art and Science of Nature
Scheduled to coincide with the Champaign County Barn Quilt Tour, this outdoor festival on the grounds at Mac-A-Cheek will offer an art show, performances, hands-on workshops, nature tours and opportunities to participate in archaeology. The anticipated cost is free dependent on grant funding and sponsorships. Time TBD.

11 & 18Ghosts and Goblins: Literature to Scare and Delight at Mac-O-Chee
$6.00 for children 5-15, $10.00 for adults (MFH members discount is $1.00)
This program begins at 4:30 p.m. and lasts until 6:00 p.m. It is not recommended for children under the age of five. Mac-O-Chee is located 2 miles east of West Liberty.
Discover the fun of Halloween traditions and how imagination can be sparked by a good story. The program includes Victorian autumn games, stories and dramatic scenes, a scavenger hunt for literary treasures, a spooky cellar walk and a bonfire.Adult

Enjoy living history, storytelling, Victorian era games and hands-on activities as you discover how families celebrated the season in the past. Reservations are required for these programs which last from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and includes admission to the seasonal exhibit: Traditions Over Time. The programs each week are different, come to one or all.

The Art and Science of Nature: A day camp for youth, ages 10-14
